Trust and Obey...it's so simple!

One of my all time favourite hymns is "Trust and Obey". I love it because it so clearly describes the way I want my life to be as Christian- a believer and follower of Christ. At the church I attended when I was growing up this hymn was sung a lot, but at my current church I hardly ever hear it.

Trust and Obey- John Sammis

When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will, He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.

Trust and obey, for there's no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh or a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.

Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief or a loss, not a frown or a cross,
But is blessed if we trust and obey.

But we never can prove the delights of His love
Until all on the altar we lay;
For the favor He shows, for the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.

Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at His feet.
Or we''ll walk by His side in the way.
What He says we will do, where He sends we will go;
Never fear, only trust and obey.

"It is the Lord your God you must follow and him you must revere. Keep his commands and obey him; serve him and hold fast to him".
- Deuteronomy 13:4

Have a safe and blessed week!

Trusting and Obeying Him-

God's grace is so encompassing that even in spirit, we are able to spend time together in fellowship by singing his songs. Thank you for this post. Take care dear friend.

It's always refreshing to read your posts. I like Trust and Obey also. We always sang that song when there was a baptismal service.
You have a great week, my friend!

Good Morning Lauren-mary..

I have been thinking about this song ever since you posted it. It surely is a nice song to sing but somehow it is so hard to live it sometimes!
At least I find it is anyway.
So many times I want my own way and not God's but I really am trying!!
The older you get, I guess the harder it gets!!

As usual a good message on your blog.....Love Terry

A great song, and a baptism just isn't a baptism without it!
